Bits of Good
About
Bits of Good is the Georgia Tech chapter of Hack4Impact, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Bits of Good drives social impact by developing custom, pro bono software for local nonprofits. While we empower our nonprofit partners to work more efficiently and scale their impact, we also create opportunities for Georgia Tech students, both undergraduate and graduate, to spur meaningful change in the community around them.
We have helped 15+ nonprofits since 2017, ranging in focus from supporting incarcerated mothers and their newborn children to combatting food insecurity in the Atlanta area. Each nonprofit is assigned a project team that owns the entire development lifecycle, starting with ideation and ending with delivery. The project team has 4-6 software developers, an engineering manager, 1-2 product designers, and a product manager who follow agile development methodologies.
Every semester we also host two free bootcamps to give back to the Georgia Tech community. We have our developer bootcamp, offering an introduction to web development, and we have our designer bootcamp, providing the fundamentals behind UX/UI. These bootcamps should give students the crucial skills they need for both succeeding in Bits of Good and penetrating industry. No experience is needed to apply for either program!
Lastly, we have other opportunities in the fields of marketing, brand design, logistics, finance, and nonprofit relationship coordination. If you are passionate about social impact and want to use your unique skills to make a difference in our community, then you should apply to join Bits of Good.
Note - we do not recruit through Engage. Applications cycles for some roles are in the weeks leading up to a semester (over break) through the first week on campus. Applications cycles for other roles are at the end of the previous semester, meaning early November for the coming spring or early April for the coming fall. Apply through our website, and we highly recommend you follow us on Instagram @gtbitsofgood for updates on recruitment timelines and insights into org events.
