Buzz Mobile Health
About
BMH aims to provide a service-oriented, holistic approach to improve healthcare access among Atlanta’s disadvantaged communities by utilizing students and faculty from Georgia Tech, charitable organization volunteers, and healthcare professionals and trainees from partnering medical institutions in the greater Atlanta area. Team members will work together, in conjunction with partnering organizations, to develop and implement strategies that aim to reduce health disparities among Atlanta’s underserved populations. The goal: eliminate perceived and realized boundaries to comprehensive healthcare while combining the resources of Atlanta’s excellent medical and research institutions. Overarching goals of Buzz Mobile Health are as follows: 1. To familiarize Georgia Tech students and faculty with the social determinants of health contributing to healthcare limitations in the greater Atlanta area. 2. To provide an organization through which Georgia Tech students can work, in cooperation with local academic institutions and charitable organizations, to establish healthcare outreach programs with the intention of reducing barriers to healthcare in the greater Atlanta area. 3. To deploy these healthcare outreach programs (i.e. health education events, blood pressure screenings, etc..) that connect Atlanta’s underserved communities to local healthcare resources and institutions. Through these acts of service, Buzz Mobile Health hopes to provide continuous healthcare outreach programs to underserved populations in the greater Atlanta area.
