EWB Overview:
EWB-GT is a chapter of EWB-USA, a large non-profit humanitarian organization. The goal of this organization is to support community-driven development projects worldwide through partnerships that design and implement sustainable engineering projects.
EWB-GT achieves its goals through collaboration between students and communities. To efficiently address issues in a variety of diverse communities around the world, EWB has in place a unique network of collaboration in which students, mentors, NGOs and community members work together to identify and address environmental and health issues.
We are one of many EWB-USA chapters. There are student chapters, like ours, and professional chapters, like one for the city of Atlanta.
Our Chapter Organization:
Our chapter consists of an Executive Board, and three active projects. For new member recruitment, we are recruiting members to join one of these three active projects. If you choose to apply, you will rank your project preferences. These projects are listed below.
- Nepal Water Sanitation Project
- Ecuador Healthcare Center and Education Project
- Bolivia Water Supply Project
- Atlanta Greenhouse and Education Project
- Wish for Wash- Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene solutions
Student Roles:
Student roles on each project are often categorized as technical, financial, or communication roles. These categories are defined below.
- Communication: Each project has a communications committee that is responsible for relaying important information to the community in which the team works as well as raising awareness amongst the student body.
- Finance: The finance committee of each project is responsible for raising the funds necessary to allow the project to address the needs of their community. This is often through grants, sponsorships, fundraisers, etc.
- Technical: The technical committee is the team that works to address the engineering aspects of each project. This can range from designing wells, researching solar energy, designing cookstoves, etc. depending on the project.
