About
The mission of the National Society of Black Engineers is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. Founded in 1976, the Georgia Tech Society of Black Engineers, in line with the society's mission, was established increase academic excellence and promote professional development among Black students at Georgia Tech. Over the past years, the chapter has received much recognition throughout the society for it's academic achievement and contributions to the Black community. Some of these include being named National Distinguished Chapter of the Year in 2011, National Large Chapter of the Year in 2005, 2007 and 2019, Regional Large Chapter of the Year 2018, 2019, and 2023 and the Georgia Tech Organization of the Year 2008 and 2016, and many more.
